Shock! The former vice president of SAIC was expelled from the Party membership!

On August 1, the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Shanghai Municipal Supervisory Commission informed that Chen Demei, the former vice president of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, was expelled from the Party membership and had her retirement benefits cancelled due to serious violations of discipline and laws.

The notice stated that upon investigation, Chen Demei, as a Party member leading cadre in a state-owned enterprise, lost her ideals and beliefs, abandoned her original aspiration and mission, ignored the spirit of the Central Eight Provisions, illegally accepted gifts and cash, and illegally entered places with the nature of private clubs; violated organizational principles, concealed and did not report the situation of her son’s business operation and the stocks actually held by herself, and sought benefits for others in the employment of employees; the relationship between government and business was not “close” and “clear”, accepted banquets for a long time, illegally engaged in profit-making activities, and used her power to provide assistance for her son’s business activities and for her wife’s deposit absorption; violated work requirements and interfered in and intervened in the business activities of subordinate enterprises; received pornographic services, and the family style was not correct; regarded the power entrusted by the Party and the people as a tool to seek personal gain, “relied on the enterprise to eat the enterprise” and “relied on the car to eat the car”, and used the convenience of her position to seek benefits for others and illegally accepted huge amounts of property; used the convenience of her position to purchase goods from the unit managed by her son at a significantly higher price than the market, resulting in significant losses to the national interests.

Chen Demei seriously violated the Party’s discipline, constituted serious duty violations and was suspected of accepting bribes and illegally profiting for relatives and friends, and did not converge or stop after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, with a serious nature and a bad influence, and should be seriously dealt with. In accordance with relevant provisions such as the “Regulations of the Communist Party of China on Disciplinary Punishment”, the “Supervisory Law of the People’s Republic of China”, and the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administrative Sanctions for Public Officials”, after the research of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, it was decided to give Chen Demei the punishment of expelling from the Party membership and cancelling her retirement benefits; the suspected criminal issues were transferred to the procuratorial organ for examination and prosecution in accordance with the law, and the involved property was also transferred together.

The information shows that Chen Demei was born in October 1962, is a member of the Communist Party of China, graduated from graduate school, holds a master’s degree in business administration, and is a senior economist. She once served as the deputy manager and manager of the Economic Operation Department of SAIC Motor (Group) Corporation, the manager of the Economic Operation Department and the Quality and Economic Operation Department of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, the executive director of the Quality and Economic Operation Department of SAIC Motor (Group) Corporation, the deputy chief economist of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, the general manager of Shanghai Huizhong Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and the general manager of Shanghai Wanzhong Automobile Parts Co., Ltd., and the vice president of SAIC Motor (Group) Corporation and the general manager of the Automotive Service and Trade Division. In January 2012, Chen Demei served as the vice president of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited. In April 2023, due to reasons of age and retirement, Chen Demei resigned from the vice president position. In April 2024, according to the news of the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Shanghai Municipal Supervisory Commission, Chen Demei, the former vice president of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and laws, and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervision and investigation by the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Shanghai Municipal Supervisory Commission.

SAIC Motor is the largest domestic automobile producer, and the main vehicle enterprises under it include IM Motors, SAIC Passenger Vehicle Branch, RISING AUTO, SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC GM, SAIC-GM-Wuling, SAIC Maxus, Nanjing Iveco, SAIC Light Truck, Shanghai Sunwin, etc. The annual report shows that in 2023, SAIC Motor’s cumulative wholesale sales volume was 5.021 million units, a year-on-year decline of 5.31%. During the reporting period, SAIC Motor’s total operating revenue was 744.71 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.09%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was 14.11 billion yuan, a year-on-year decline of 12.48%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company after deducting non-recurring损益 was 10.04 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.71%.

It is worth mentioning that SAIC Motor has just experienced a series of personnel changes.

On July 10, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as “SAIC Motor”) officially announced the decision of adjusting the main leaders: the original chairman, Mr. Chen Hong, resigned from the chairman and other positions due to reaching retirement age. Wang Xiaoqiu was appointed as the chairman of SAIC Motor, and Mr. Jia Jianxu was appointed as the president of SAIC Motor. On July 18, SAIC Motor announced that the president of SAIC Motor, Jia Jianxu, no longer held the concurrent position of the general manager of SAIC Volkswagen, and the original general manager of HASCO Automotive Systems Co., Ltd., Tao Hailong, took over as the general manager of SAIC Volkswagen. On July 19, HASCO Automotive released an announcement that the meeting elected Wang Xiaoqiu as the chairman of the 10th board of directors of the company, and supplementary elected Jia Jianxu and Xu Ping as non-independent director candidates of the 10th board of directors of the company, and appointed Xu Ping as the general manager of the company.
