On July 19, the State Administration for Market Regulation released four recall announcements. A total of four companies, including Peugeot Citroën (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd., BAIC BluePark Magna Automotive Co., Ltd., Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd., and Stellantis (Shanghai) Automobile Co., Ltd., announced recalls.
According to the requirements of the “Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products”, Peugeot Citroën (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation on behalf of. From now on, it will recall some DS 7 series cars produced from January 10, 2018 to April 15, 2021, a total of 4,311 vehicles.
The reason for the recall is that due to the design reason of the vehicles within the scope of this recall, the gap between the upper edge of the taillight and the tailgate is too small, and the taillight may be damaged when the tailgate is switched. If rainwater enters the taillight interior, it may lead to the taillight not being able to be lit, and cannot provide a signal for the following vehicles, which poses a potential safety hazard.
In response to the above defects, Peugeot Citroën (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd. will perform a water leakage test on the vehicles within the recall range, check whether the taillight is damp, and replace the taillight that is damp; for the taillight that is not damp but belongs to the defective batch, it will be repaired.
It is understood that DS 7 is a compact SUV model under the DS brand, based on the EMP2 platform of the PSA Group, and was launched in April 2018. The current price is 24.99-32.99 million yuan, and it is equipped with a 1.6T engine and matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
DS is a luxury brand under the French PSA Group and is quite popular in France and is known as the “president’s car”. In November 2011, Changan Automobile and PSA Group established Changan Peugeot Citroën. In September 2013, the first domestic model DS 5 of Changan Peugeot Citroën was launched, and then DS 5LS, DS 6, DS 4S, DS 7 and other models were successively introduced. In March 2014, the DS brand was officially separated from Peugeot Citroën and continued to enter the Chinese market as a French luxury car brand. However, at present, as one of the luxury brands, DS has virtually ceased to exist in China.
BAIC BluePark Magna Automotive Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation according to the requirements of the “Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products”. It was decided to recall some pure electric vehicles of the Alpha T and Alpha S produced from November 2, 2021 to June 10, 2022 from July 20, 2024, a total of 3,418 vehicles.
The reason for the recall is that for some vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the poor raw material quality of the corrugated clamp of the fixed brake hose, the corrugated clamp may break, resulting in local loosening and wear of the brake hose. In extreme cases, it leads to brake fluid leakage and longer braking distance, which poses a potential safety hazard.
This recall activity is carried out under the situation that the State Administration for Market Regulation initiates a defect investigation. Affected by the investigation, BAIC BluePark Magna Automotive Co., Ltd. will replace the corrugated clamp for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge. If the brake hose is worn, the brake hose will be replaced to eliminate the potential safety hazard.
It is understood that Alpha T and Alpha S are models under the ARCFOX brand. Among them, Alpha T is positioned as a medium-sized SUV model and was launched in October 2020. The current price is 18.58-28.08 million yuan; Alpha S is positioned as a medium and large-sized car, which was released in April 2021 and provides 2 power and 3 range versions of models. The current price is 18.98-32.98 million yuan.
In addition, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. and Stellantis (Shanghai) Automobile Co., Ltd. also announced recalls on the same day.
Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation according to the requirements of the “Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products”. It was decided to recall some imported new Ford F-150 Raptor cars produced from March 30, 2023 to April 3, 2023 from July 19, 2024, a total of 6 vehicles.
The reason for the recall is that for some vehicles within the scope of this recall, the clock spring in the steering column control module is not sufficiently welded, which may lead to the disconnection of the driver’s frontal airbag circuit. When a vehicle collision accident occurs, the airbag cannot be deployed normally, which poses a potential safety hazard. In response to the above defect, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. will, through authorized dealers, check the production date of the clock spring for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge. If it belongs to the defective batch, the clock spring will be replaced to eliminate the potential safety hazard.
Stellantis (Shanghai) Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation according to the requirements of the “Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products”. It was decided to recall some imported new Grand Cherokee 4xe cars produced from March 30, 2023 to June 21, 2023 immediately, a total of 180 vehicles; and recall some imported Gladiator cars produced from April 6, 2023 to June 2, 2023, a total of 5 vehicles.
The reason for the recall is that for some vehicles within the scope of this recall, the clock spring in the steering column control module is not sufficiently welded, which may lead to the disconnection of the driver’s frontal airbag circuit. When a vehicle collision accident occurs, the airbag cannot be deployed normally, which poses a potential safety hazard. In response to the above defect, Stellantis (Shanghai) Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the production serial number of the steering column module for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge, and replace the steering column module of the defective batch free of charge to eliminate the potential safety hazard.
