On August 2, the second model under Jiyue Automobile – Jiyue 07 officially made its debut. According to previous reports, Jiyue 07 is positioned as a pure electric midsize sedan and is the first sedan under Jiyue Automobile. It is planned to be launched in the second half of the year. Previously, Jiyue 01 has already been launched. This car is positioned as a medium-large SUV, and the guidance price range is 219,900 – 309,900 yuan.
In terms of appearance, Jiyue 07 adopts a family-style design style. The front face adopts a closed intake grille, and the lamp groups on both sides are connected by a U-shaped daytime running light strip. The front face of the whole vehicle also has good recognition. The newly debuted green exterior color matching looks very sporty. In addition, the dual lidar is located inside the lamp groups on both sides of the front bumper. The official said that the new car is equipped with intelligent AI pixel headlights and voice functions inside and outside the vehicle, and is also equipped with pure vision high-level intelligent driving technology. Jiyue 07 has designed blue-green high-performance indicator signal lights on all four directions of the vehicle front, back, left and right. When the vehicle is charging, it can present a breathing effect to externally display the charging status of the vehicle.
On the side of the vehicle body, Jiyue 07 adopts a hatchback coupe design with a slip-back style. The waistline is straight and sharp and extends all the way to the taillight groups on both sides, creating a feeling of being ready to go with a strong sporty hatchback coupe body. It is worth noting that the low-drag wheel rims, small-sized exterior rearview mirrors and hidden door handles are all making efforts to optimize the wind drag. As for the power, referring to the declared information, Jiyue 07 is built based on the Geely SEA vast architecture and is equipped with an electric motor provided by Weirui Electric Vehicle Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. The high-end model is equipped with dual electric motors, and the standard model is equipped with a single electric motor. The peak power of a single electric motor is 200 kilowatts. In terms of batteries, Jiyue 07 is equipped with 71.4 kWh and 100 kWh battery packs. Among them, the pure electric cruising range of the 71.4 kWh battery model declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is 660 kilometers, and the pure electric cruising range of the 100 kWh battery model declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is divided into 770 kilometers (four-wheel drive) and 880 kilometers (rear-wheel drive) respectively.
Jiyue Automobile was formerly known as Jidu Automobile, which was jointly established by Baidu and Geely. In January 2021, Baidu announced to build a car and said that it would officially form an intelligent car company and enter the car industry as an original equipment manufacturer, and Geely was the strategic partner of the new company. Two months later, the Jidu Automobile officially came into being initiated by Baidu and strategically invested by Geely. With the boost of Geely, the progress of Jidu Automobile was extremely fast. In June 2022, the Jidu ROBO-01 concept car came out.
Regarding the sales target of Jidu Automobile, Xia Yiping, the CEO of Jidu Automobile, once said: “My goal is to sell 10,000 units every month. Now it really doesn’t have to worry about making the car, but it doesn’t mean that the car can be sold just by making it.” In addition, Xia Yiping also revealed that “in 2028, Jidu will have the ability to deliver 800,000 car robots throughout the year”. However, the reality is very cruel. Due to the lack of production qualifications, Jidu Automobile cannot directly entrust Geely to produce on behalf of it. Eventually, Baidu and Geely officially announced the “Jiyue Automobile” brand in August 2023, and the first model was named “Jiyue 01”. At this time, Baidu had to hand over the leading right and choose to participate in car building as a technical solution provider to ensure the smooth mass production of Jiyue Automobile, and Jiyue Automobile has officially become a subsidiary of Geely. In October 2023, Jiyue 01 was officially launched, with a price range of 249,900 – 339,900 yuan. In November 2023, Jiyue 01 officially reduced the price by 30,000 yuan, and the price range after the reduction was 219,900 – 309,900 yuan.
Although it is backed by Geely and Baidu, the sales volume of Jiyue Automobile is very poor. In the first half of the year, the sales volume of Jiyue Automobile was only 2700 units, and the monthly sales volume was less than 500 units. The sales volume was so poor that it could no longer be described as “dull”.
Jiyue 07 is the first sedan under Jiyue Automobile and also the second model under Jiyue Automobile. It was officially named as early as December 2023 and had already been declared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, but it has not been launched until now. As a pure electric midsize sedan, the competitors of Jiyue 07 will target Tesla Model 3, Zhijie S7, Jikr 007, XPeng P7, Feifan F7, Lynk & Co Z01, Xiaomi SU7, etc. In the first half of the year, the best-selling pure electric midsize sedan was Tesla Model 3, which was 70,500 units, and Xiaomi SU7 was 30,000 units, and Jikr 007 was 27,200 units. Referring to the market positioning and competitors, it is expected that the market pricing of Jiyue 07 should be just over 200,000 yuan.
