It is understood that the all-new 212 is the first product of the 212 brand family. The new car is positioned as a compact SUV, and the appearance and interior are redesigned, and the new 212 logo is adopted. It is equipped with a 2.0T engine + 8AT gearbox power combination and will be launched at the end of the year.
In terms of appearance, the all-new 212 adopts a classic square box-shaped design. The front face retains a large number of classic design elements of 212, including the clam-shaped engine cover, split round headlights, three-section middle grille and other classic designs. In addition, the inner part of the new car’s headlight group is equipped with double lenses and a circular LED light strip, and the 212 digital LOGO is moved to the front end position of the engine compartment cover. Compared with the old model, the front and rear bumpers of the all-new 212 are treated more delicately, no longer the stamped steel plate front and rear bumpers. The installation position of the front fog lights is also adjusted to both sides of the front bumper, and there is a connecting treatment between the front bumper and the fender.
On the side of the body, it adopts a quite tough style. The side line of the window is similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, still paying tribute to the design of classic retro models. The four-door door frame and the door are no longer the split structure fixed by screws, and a traditional door handle is adopted. The overall strength and sealing are expected to be further improved compared to the old model. In terms of dimensions, the new car has a length, width and height of 4705/1895/1936mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2860mm. At the rear part of the car, the new car cancels the separately opened spare tire bracket and the downward-flipping tailgate, and adopts a classic split taillight design, which has good recognition. At the same time, the tailgate has an externally-mounted spare tire, and the overall design is similar to that of the current tough SUV. The all-new 212 adopts three taillight groups arranged up and down in a circle, and the “212” and “Beijing Automobile Works” logos on both sides indicate the identity information.
In terms of interior, the official has not released the specific interior design of the all-new 212, but based on the interior spy photos before, the overall style of the interior of the all-new 212 is tough, and it is equipped with a full LCD instrument panel and a floating central control screen. The central console retains physical buttons to the greatest extent. The upper part is the air conditioning control buttons, and the lower part is the control buttons related to cross-country. Electronic gear levers and electronic handbrakes are all not absent.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.0T engine produced by Harbin Dong’an Automobile Engine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., with a maximum power of 185 kilowatts. The transmission system is matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and its parameter level is similar to that of the all-new BJ40 model. The all-new 212 continues to adopt a non-load-bearing body structure and a front and rear integral axle non-independent suspension structure, in which the 5-leaf steel plate spring design of the rear suspension is cancelled and a spiral spring structure is used.
As a compact SUV, the competitor of 212 will be models such as BJ40 and Haval H5. At present, there are not many selectable models of non-load-bearing SUVs in the price range of 10-200,000 yuan. In history, the price of 212 is also relatively close to the people, but it has made a certain data improvement compared to the old model, and the off-road performance has also improved a lot. It is expected that the official guide price of the current model of 9.99-10.59 million will increase to a certain extent.
